Geely published the first photos of the Starship 7, a new midsize SUV from the Galaxy series. The model will introduce the new generation of the brand’s Thor super electric hybrid technology, which is a plug-in hybrid setup.
Despite adopting a cool sci-fi name, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 looks rather conventional. The design of the profile, greenhouse, and tail have hints of the Porsche Macan and Cayenne SUVs, with a character line reminiscent of the slightly smaller and fully electric Geely Galaxy E5.

The front end adopts a grille-less look with high-tech LEDs, slim bumper intakes, and the Geely Galaxy emblem comprising six rectangular shapes. The SUV also has a large sunroof, hidden tailpipes, and conventional door handles.
The interior is quite generic, with a large infotainment touchscreen, and a smaller digital instrument cluster behind a two-spoke steering wheel. The inclined center console features a wireless charging pad and a panel with physical controls. Other highlights include the protruding speakers and the strip of ambient lightning running through the dashboard and the door cards.
The new model is expected to debut in the Chinese market later this year, but we know most of its specifications thanks to earlier documents from the Chinese MIIT.
The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 measures 4,740 mm (186.6 inches) long, 1,905 mm (75 inches) wide, and 1,685 mm (66.3 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm (108.5 inches). Its length is similar to the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC, although the wheelbase is closer to the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA.
The SUV rides on Geely’s new Global Energy Architecture (GEA), featuring the brand’s “Thor super electric hybrid technology”.
Car New China reports it will offer a choice between two plug-in hybrid powertrains. Both will feature a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a single electric motor, moving the front wheels. The SVOLT-sourced batteries will have a capacity of either 19.09 kWh or 28.94 kWh, offering an EV-only range of 101 km (63 miles) and 150 km (93 miles) respectively.
Full specifications of the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 will be announced at the official debut sometime in the coming weeks. The company has pledged to offer a lineup of seven Geely Galaxy vehicles by 2025, all featuring PHEV and BEV powertrains. The sub-brand was launched in early 2023, positioned below the more premium Zeekr.
