- Manhart’s upgrade boosts the XM’s power to 888 hp and features eye-catching styling.
- The SUV can be equipped with an Akrapovic exhaust or a bespoke stainless steel system.
- A set of 24-inch wheels is also available, wrapped in tires as wide as those on a Lambo Aventador.
The BMW XM is one of the most garish and controversial cars launched by the German automaker in recent memory. While it’s quick and very powerful, it’s also extremely heavy and has an exterior design that’s sparked fierce debate since its launch. Perhaps because of how wild the SUV looks out of the box, Manhart’s newly released upgrade package tries to make everything look a little more cohesive.
The upgrade package is known as the MHXM 900 and is based on the flagship XM Label Red. From the factory, this model delivers 738 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque thanks to a powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and a 197 hp electric motor. But Manhart managed to draw even more power out of the electrified powertrain.

The package includes the company’s MHtronik ‘powerbox’ and new exhaust options, lifting the power figures of the flagship XM to an impressive 888 hp and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm). Manhart offers the option of race downpipes without catalytic converters and 300-cell cats. Customers can also choose between an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust or a stainless steel exhaust built in-house by Manhart with adjustable valves to tweak the sound profile.
A set of H&R lowering springs have also been installed, together with Manhart’s Concave One wheels, measuring 24×10 inches at the front and a massive 24×12 inches at the rear, and wrapped in 295/30 and 355/25 tires respectively.
A carbon fiber bodykit completes the package, and we think it complements the wild looks of the XM surprisingly well. This kit includes a new splitter and front air intakes, a custom hood, extended side sills, a large roof spoiler, a small lip below the rear window, and a bold carbon fiber diffuser. This particular MHXM 900 has also been adorned with a matte grey wrap.
Rounding out the modifications are some extra trimmings of carbon fiber on the dashboard and center console.
