Most new product releases from Porsche involve an exciting new performance car that can either ferociously lap a racetrack, carve up a mountain road, or ferry a family in comfort and style. However, this latest release from the German company is a little different as it doesn’t involve a new car. Instead, Porsche has released a series of limited-edition surfboards.

The boards have been brought to life through a partnership with Almond Surfboards in Costa Mesa, California, and each one will be shaped by hand and individually numbered. The surfboards are designed to pay homage to some of the most iconic colors used by Porsche over the decades and have been launched alongside a new collection of merchandise that includes t-shirts, a sweatshirt, a hoodie, a trucker cap, and a keychain.

The run of special surfboards, known as the Single Fins & Air Cooled Engines collection, is available in four designs. These consist of Bahama Yellow, Irish Green, Polo Red, and the famous Porsche Pink Pig livery used by the 917/20 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971.

Porsche Design will sell the boards online and at its stores. They’ll also be available directly from Almond Surf Shop. Two different sizes are available, starting with a 7-foot 10-inch Cash-Yew II priced at $4,500 and a 9-foot 11-inch Surf Thumb longboard that’ll set back surfers $5,500. The decks of the boards can be configured with a painted number of the customer’s choosing, while a black Porsche logo is found on the bottom of the board.

All of Almond Surfboard’s creations are made from polyurethane foam with basswood stringers and clad in a fiberglass shell. They also come with a wooden wall bracket, allowing them to be proudly displayed.

“The Porsche Lifestyle Group is constantly expanding its product portfolio to extend the sports car experience for Porsche enthusiasts beyond the automobile, president and chief executive of Porsche Design of America, Karsten von Engeln said. “As part of a new collaboration initiative designed to celebrate our longstanding connection with California, we are extremely excited to launch our first ‘Made in California’ initiative. With Almond Surfboards and their bespoke approach to building custom-made surfboards in California, we couldn’t have found a better partner to translate the unique Porsche Lifestyle to the waves.”
