One of the Subaru Impreza WRC cars driven extensively by the late Colin McRae is looking for a new home. McRae is still regarded as one of the greatest rally drivers of all time and every car he piloted is special. This one is no different.

This Impreza WRC was built by Prodrive back in the day and served as McRae’s official test car from 1993 to 1996. It’s currently located in Bologna, Italy, but remains registered in the UK and still has the original license plates it used back in the 1990s.

Visually, the car is immediately identifiable as a McRae-era Impreza as it comes finished in the bright blue paint scheme with a yellow ‘555’ livery. To top it off, it rolls on a set of six-spoke wheels with a gold finish.

Race Cars Direct is handling the sale of the iconic Subie, and in 2020, it was completely restored. It now features a rebuilt engine brought to life by Autosportif Engineering and has only made a single racing appearance since the restoration. Like the exterior, the interior of the Impreza looks absolutely mint and includes a blue roll cage as well as a dashboard dominated by carbon fiber.

The car is being sold in asphalt configuration and has the original carbon fiber Prodrive/Sparco seats with OMP seat belts. The seller will provide new seats to the buyer as these originals have expired and can no longer be used in competition. The car will also be sold with a complete gravel rally kit that includes new shocks, calipers, and brake discs, all sourced directly from Prodrive.

So, how much will you need to spend to pick up the keys to this special Subaru rally car? Well, it’s been listed up for sale for £390,000, or roughly $505,000. That’s a lot of money, but it’s been listed for sale for almost 18 months, so there may be some room for negotiation.
