• A seller on Alibaba is offering a Ferrari 458 body shell for $27,700 plus shipping.
  • It includes bumpers, fenders, doors, and glass but no drivetrain or chassis elements.
  • This isn’t the only rare car body available for sale on the Chinese platform.

People build kit cars that mimic supercars all the time. Most often, they’re relatively cheap facsimiles rather than convincing replicas. They don’t have the right chassis, the right engine, or even a real body. Now, a seller on Alibaba is empowering at least one person to fix that last issue. They’re offering the entire body shell from a Ferrari 458 for sale.

The listing comes courtesy of the Guangzhou Baiyun District Yongping Yttrium Strong Auto Parts Department (yes, that’s the full name), and the description is interesting, to say the least. The seller assures potential buyers with lines like, “Authenticity Guaranteed: This is a genuine, premium OEM original used car body shell for the Ferrari F458, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.”

The description goes on to mention that, “The body shell is designed to fit various Ferrari models, including the 458 Italia, Speciale, and Spider.” Color me crazy, but I’m not sure one could convert this to a true Spider spec since it has a roof—unless, of course, you’re handy with a Sawzall and an alarming level of optimism.

What You’re Getting

In any case, the car shell includes everything one would need to make any replica look like the real deal. From everything we can see in the description and photos, the shell looks good https://youtu.be/mUpMDaoGbfUtoo. The hood, bumpers, body, fenders, and rear deck lid appear intact and without major flaws. Even the doors and glass are in good condition.

The asking price for this slice of Ferrari exotica? The seller wants $27,700 for the shell, but keep in mind that doesn’t include shipping. It’s plausible that some countries could have import laws stopping it from showing up on time or, in a worst-case scenario, your precious purchase being held up indefinitely.

Out of curiosity, we compared this price with a Ferrari parts dealer. Scuderia Car Parts, a name mentioned on Ferrari forums, lists all four fenders (front and rear) for $10,950 delivered. That makes the $27,700 shell seem, if nothing else, decently priced for the sheer scale of what you’re getting.

More Than Just Ferraris

Interestingly, this isn’t the only product of its kind on Alibaba. The site and seller also offer countless other supercar parts. That includes the entire frame for a Lamborghini Gallardo at a very reasonable $2,500. Interestingly, the website claims that the buyer must order at least two pieces to meet the minimum order requirements. That goes for the Ferrari too. In the case of the Gallardo, the frame is already sawed into two bits, but we’re not sure if the seller interprets it in that way.

What would you do with these wild supercar parts? Use them to restore your own Ferrari? Build a replica? Turn them into a coffee table? Let us know in the comments below.
