Street takeovers are a growing problem across the USA and this example shows exactly why. Police in Anaheim, California just found and arrested the driver of a Dodge Charger. They claim he not only engaged in a street takeover, but hit two bystanders before leaving the scene. The spectators went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Dodge driver, meanwhile, went to jail.
According to the Anaheim Police Department (APD), that suspect is Hassan Ali. Video from the scene shows the Charger in question doing donuts at the intersection of State College Blvd & Orangewood Ave on November 1. At one point, the car turns into a group of people and the driver hits several of them. Two people ended up seriously injured and then the crowd attacked.

The video paints a vivid picture of mob justice showing dozens of people hitting, kicking, and otherwise demolishing the Dodge Charger. Evidently, the driver fled the scene as other film from the aftermath show it sitting idle in a heap of parts and pieces. Both of the injured people hit by the car were 19 years old. Authorities say they went to the hospital but will survive.
Warning: Some viewers may find the following video disturbing
According to the APD, bystanders and tipsters helped them find Ali within just three days of the incident. He’s now facing charges of felony hit and run along with an exhibition of speed. Notably, the investigation is ongoing so police would love additional footage from the event if they can get it.
This incident serves as a sharp reminder of just how quickly an event like this can switch from what participants see as fun and games to a life-changing situation. No doubt, those going to such a spectacle don’t expect to hurt anyone or to be hurt but that can change in the blink of an eye as it did here.
