That contest required vehicles to be “attractive to a wide range of … buyers, easy to replicate, and profitable for both the restyler and the dealer.” The transformation also had to be completed in less than 40 man hours, have a maximum MSRP of $15,000, and a wholesale cost of no more than $12,500. Like the standard model, the body-on-frame SUV has an i-Force Max hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a space robbing 1.87 kWh battery, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor. This enables the model to produce 326 hp (243 kW / 331 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
