• Genesis shared a teaser sketch on social media, hinting at an LMDh racing hypercar.
  • Racing legend Jacky Ickx announced the brand’s involvement with long-distance racing.
  • More information is expected at a special event on December 6.

Genesis is ready to step into the world of endurance racing, with a new hypercar that is expected to be unveiled soon. A new video starring Belgian racing legend Jacky Ickx follows the original announcement from September 2024 and is joined by ca ool teaser sketch on social media.

Ickx, a six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, said: “We are going to be in long-distance racing very soon, to win it as fast as possible”. The Genesis ambassador admitted that the “new era for Genesis into motorsport” won’t be an easy task, likening it to “climbing many, many, many mountains”. However, he said the Korean brand has nothing to lose, and no hesitation.

Ickx’s message was filmed in front of parts of a Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision GT scale model, painted in the signature Magma orange shade. The X Gran Berlinetta was unveiled in December 2023, followed by the more extreme X Gran Racer in June 2024.

Both concepts are available as digital racecars in the Gran Turismo game, and boast an electrified V6 powertrain producing 1,071 hp (799 kW / 1,086 PS) and 1,540 hp (1,133 kW / 1,561 PS) respectively.

Genesis also shared a teaser sketch on Instagram, depicting a hypercar that could easily pass for the LMDh class. Pronounced fenders, a droplet-shaped canopy, and a central fin leading to a massive rear wing are present. Its silhouette appears to be closer to LDMh racecars compared to the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision GT concept.

According to the caption, the “Genesis’ new vision for high-performance luxury is coming”. This makes us believe that the automaker might also plan a road-going version of the hybrid track monster, that could serve as a halo model for the upcoming “Magma” lineup of performance-focused offerings.

Earlier this month, Genesis shared another teaser titled “Something Magma is Coming”, with a special event scheduled for December 6 at the Genesis Studio Zurich. Hopefully, the new hypercar will be unveiled there, alongside more information about the automaker’s involvement with motorsports that could begin as early as 2026.
