- Subaru has introduced the 2025 WRX, with a more streamlined lineup that now starts at $35,750.
- The Base trim has been axed, while the TR has been replaced by a far more expensive tS variant.
- The 2025 WRX arrives at U.S. dealerships early next year with a 271 hp turbocharged engine.
If you’re in the market for a Subaru WRX, prepare to shell out more money as the company has killed the Base trim for 2025. This means the cost of entry jumps from $32,735 to $35,750 and that’s before factoring in the destination fee, which has climbed $50 to $1,170.
Customers are actually getting hit by a double whammy as, besides killing off the Base trim, Subaru raised the price on the WRX Premium. The now entry-level variant starts at $35,750 which is up from $34,635. That’s an increase of $1,115 and that’s before factoring in the higher destination fee.

The Limited also sees a $1,115 price hike, while the $41,655 WRX TR is replaced by the $45,705 WRX tS. Lastly, the 2025 WRX GT costs $45,705 and that’s an increase of $1,490.
Those are significant jumps and Subaru said they killed the entry-level variant because “few buyers opted for the Base trim … last year.” This is an unfortunate development, especially since changes are limited for 2025.
However, there are a few updates including red WRX badging on the grille and trunk. Customers will also find a new Galaxy Purple paint job, which costs $395 and features blue and purple metallic flakes.
Moving inside, most trims receive red WRX stitching on the dashboard. The Limited and GT also have “updated interiors with bold, red contrast stitching on seat bolsters and headrests.” Furthermore, the GT now comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. All WRXs also sport a newly standard DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System.
The big news for 2025 is the aforementioned WRX tS, which has a Brembo braking system and STI-tuned adjustable dampers. Buyers will also find a revised exterior with Crystal Black Silica accents and 19-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires. Other highlights include leather and Ultrasuede Recaro front seats, a digital instrument cluster, and tS logos throughout the cabin.
Regardless of which trim is selected, all WRXs are powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 271 hp (202 kW / 275 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to a six-speed manual or a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. Both are paired to a standard all-wheel drive system.
