• The GR Supra A90 Final Edition is the last hurrah for the current generation of the sports car.
  • The limited-production model gains more power, a sharper chassis setup, and racecar looks.
  • Toyota has also announced upgrades for the standard GR Supra with the 3.0-liter engine

Toyota has announced the ultimate version of the current generation GR Supra, before the model bows out of production. The GR Supra A90 Final Edition will be limited to 300 units for Japan and Europe, featuring a number of enhancements including a more powerful engine, KW suspension, stronger brakes, and more aggressive carbon fiber aero components.

Starting with the performance gains, the A90 Final Edition is fitted with an uprated version of the BMW-sourced turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine generating 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. The mill is exclusively mated to a six-speed manual, sending power to the rear wheels.

The above figures represent an increase of 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) over the standard GR Supra, made possible by a revised air intake, a low-back-pressure catalyst, and optimized engine controls. Toyota engineers also added a baffle plate on the engine oil pan to prevent uneven distribution during track use, enhanced cooling and upgraded the active differential on the rear axle. Finally, the Akrapovic titanium muffler improves the sound experience.

The extra grunt is joined by a sharper chassis setup inspired by the GR Supra GT4 racecar. The highlight is the KW suspension with adjustable dampening. Toyota Gazoo Racing strengthened the front and rear stabilizers and other suspension components, while increasing the camber angle of the wheels in order to deliver the best possible handling.

In the same context, the A90 Final Edition rides on lightweight wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the back, wrapped in wider and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Stopping power is taken care of by 19-inch Brembo brakes with high-friction brake pads at the front, drilled floating discs in all four wheels, and stainless steel mesh brake hoses.

Visually, the GR Supra might not have adopted the GRMN moniker as suggested by the rumors, but the A90 Final Edition has everything you’d expect from a swan song – including a swan neck rear spoiler made of carbon fiber. Other visual treats include a vented hood, a revised splitter with canards, and an afterburner-like effect on the dual tailpipes.

Inside, we find a pair of carbon fiber Recaro Podium CF buckets upholstered in Alcantara. The driver’s seat is finished in red, matching the center console, seatbelts, and driver’s side door card. On the contrary, the passenger seat and the rest of the cabin is black with lots of Alcantara and carbon fiber accents.

The Standard GR Supra Also Got Better

Besides the limited production send-off, Toyota has also revealed a mildly updated version of the GR Supra for its last year of availability in global markets including Japan, Europe, and Australia. The model, which is called “Lightweight Evo” in the Old Continent, and “Track Edition” Down Under, benefits from aero and chassis upgrades.

The revised settings for the electronically-controlled shock absorbers are joined by hardware changes to the suspension. The rubber bushings, rubber mounts, stabilizers, and underfloor bracing have been strengthened, resulting in higher rigidity and better handling. Furthermore, a new active differential control offers improved traction and reduced understeer.

Other changes include an optimised electric power steering, an increased camber angle on the wheels, and larger-diameter Brembo brake discs (18-inch at the front). The turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine is carried over, producing the same 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The company still offers the option between a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic.

Visually, the 2025MY GR Supra features a new ducktail spoiler made of carbon fiber and revised vents on the front fenders, which are said to improve aerodynamics. The model rides on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels finished in matte black, shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. Inside, buyers will find Alcantara upholstery, red stitching and matching seatbelts.

Availability

In Europe, Toyota will start taking orders for the GR Supra Lightweight Evo and the GR Supra A90 Final Edition in January 2025, with deliveries scheduled to start in spring. The rollout of the updated model in other markets, including Japan and Australia, will take place sequentially.

In the US, the GR Supra entered the 2025 MY in the summer of 2024, marking the discontinuation of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It remains to be seen if the US-spec model receives some of the aforementioned updates for the 2026 MY. Still, the 300 units of the A90 Final Edition are reserved for Europe and Japan.

Toyota said that even when production of the A90 GR Supra ends, the model will continue to live on in various motorsport activities. The outgoing GR Supra was introduced in 2019, and received mild updates in 2020 and 2022 respectively. Toyota officials have confirmed that a new generation of the sports car is already under development, although we don’t have a set date for its debut.
