• The next-generation of the Hyundai Palisade has been unveiled in Korea.
  • The redesign gives the SUV a boxier stance, offering cleaner and more refined styling.
  • It also gains a nicer interior inspired by high-end furniture, with seating for up to nine.

Hyundai has lifted the veil on the redesigned Palisade, ushering in a new generation for the brand’s largest ICE-powered SUV. After six years on the market, this overhaul signals a significant shift, not just in appearance, but in ambition. The 2024 Palisade embraces a boxier and modern aesthetic, while promising an interior that’s both more premium and spacious as Hyundai seeks to move its offering into more upscale territory.

Sharper Lines, Stronger Presence

The Palisade’s redesign leans into more angular shapes, a departure from its rounder, more subdued predecessor. Echoing the smaller Santa Fe but with more polish and sophistication, the new Palisade’s clean lines and increased focus on volume give it a more confident road presence. The front end stands out with large, vertically mounted LED blocks flanking an imposing, upright grille.

Proportions have also been sharpened, thanks to a longer wheelbase, a shorter front overhang, and a subtly stretched rear end. The result is an SUV with better balance and a more composed stance. From certain angles, the Palisade even channels some Range Rover vibes, thanks to the blacked-out pillars, flat beltline, and the shape of the LED taillights that spill onto the sides.

Hyundai’s designers have clearly gone for a more upscale vibe, adding aluminum-style accents around the bodywork and roof rails that flow into the D-pillars. The 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are just the right size for the Palisade’s presence, though we’ll have to wait and see if they come standard or are reserved for higher trims.

While the exact length of the Palisade hasn’t been disclosed, it’s expected to exceed 5 meters (196.9 inches), placing it in the same ballpark as the fully electric Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Upscale Cabin

Besides the refreshed exterior, the Palisade also boasts an improved interior, inspired by high-end furniture. The digital cockpit features dual 12.3-inch screens housed in a curved panel, now more seamlessly integrated into the dashboard. The gear selector has been relocated from the center console to the steering column, freeing up space, while ample knobs and buttons remain for climate control and other essential functions.

The pill-shaped A/C vents, round door handles, and tan-colored upholstery in the pictured example all echo the design language of Hyundai’s premium Genesis brand. Other features that enhance the premium feel include the island-style center console, a Range Rover-style steering wheel, and wood inserts with ambient lighting.

Seating for Nine, with Some Questions

According to Hyundai, the cabin can now accommodate up to nine passengers with a three-row layout, thanks to a new center console that doubles as a middle seat in the front row. However, this feature isn’t evident in the single photo released, and it’s unclear whether it will be offered in markets outside of Korea. The second row offers individual seats, while third-row passengers benefit from improved comfort and visibility.

Powertrains and Market Debut

While Hyundai has not released any technical specifications, our sources point to the new Palisade offering a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with hybrid or plug-in hybrid variants. It remains to be seen if a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 will be on offer for those seeking a bit more punch.

Sales will begin in Korea, Hyundai’s home market, with other regions—including North America—getting their turn soon. The new Palisade is expected to debut for the 2026 model year, so the 2025 version of the current Palisade will likely fill the gap in the meantime.
