• BMW and Kith have introduced a new special edition based on the 2025 XM.
  • The model costs $199,000 and features a purple paint job, black accents, and 23-inch wheels.
  • Production will be limited to 47 units and each features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 738 hp.

BMW and Kith are extending their partnership as the companies have introduced a new XM concept at Art Basel Miami. It’s designed to preview an upcoming production model known as the 2025 BMW XM by Kith.

Since the XM is the first standalone BMW M vehicle since the M1, the concept pays tribute to the mid-engine sports car. While the two models couldn’t be more different, there are subtle nods to the past including side strips and louver-like flourishes. The XM also sports two BMW emblems out back, just like the M1.

Those touches are easy to overlook because the concept looks like a purple people eater. It features a BMW Individual Frozen Techno Violet metallic paint job as well as black backlit strips that each contain 363 LEDs that glow purple. They’re joined by an Iconic Glow grille with purple contour lighting, purple LED headlights, and 23-inch wheels that have been infused with purple pigment.

Elsewhere, lowering springs reduce the ride height by 1.2 inches (30 mm) front and 1.4 inches (35 mm) rear. Wheel spacers widen the track by 1.6 inches (40 mm), while the interior sports a handful of upgrades including M Carbon bucket seats.

BMW XM by Kith Concept

Besides introducing the concept, BMW revealed the production model. It features a Frozen Black or Frozen Techno Violet exterior with black accents and Kith badging. They’re joined by 23-inch M wheels that have a Jet Black finish.

The interior has been given a light revamp thanks to BMW Individual Merino leather seats that have an embossed Kith monogram pattern. The model also sports velour floor mats, Kith logos, and illuminated door sill plates with a “1/47” insignia. Rounding out the highlights are two rear pillows, pre-set purple interior lighting, and a special Kith duffle bag.

2025 BMW XM by Kith (Production Model)

Motivation is provided by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, a 29.5 kWh battery pack, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor. This setup enables the crossover to produce a combined output of 738 hp (550 kW / 748 PS) and 738 lb-ft (999 Nm) of torque. Thanks to that healthy output, the XM can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.

Production will be limited to 47 units and this reflects the “number of years that have passed since the debut of the BMW M1.” Deliveries are slated to begin in the second half of 2025 and U.S. pricing starts at $199,000.
