Head-up displays have come a long way over the years and at CES 2025 next month, Hyundai Mobis will showcase a prototype of what head-up displays could morph into the future. It will cover the entire width of the windshield and include holographic functions displaying key driving information, including navigation and infotainment.

The trick new tech, fittingly dubbed the Holographic Windshield Display, has been developed alongside German optics giant Zeiss and will be showcased in a Kia EV9. The windshield features a special optical film that promises to deliver “a panoramic and immersive experience that seamlessly spans from the driver’s seat to the passenger’s seat.” Importantly, the system isn’t just a fun technical exercise, as Hyundai Mobis plans to begin mass production of its new windshield display as early as 2027.

The automotive supplier is bringing some other tech to CES, too. For example, it will showcase a new human-centric interior lighting system that intelligently adapts to user needs, moods, and the environment. It offers 32 situational modes and can relieve driver stress, alleviate motion sickness, prevent dismounting hazards, and provide UV-C sterilization, a feature recently added to the new Hyundai Santa Fe and Genesis GV70.

Then there’s M.Brain. This is Hyundai’s new brainwave-based tech that monitors the driver in real-time, analyzes brainwave data, and can alert the driver if they start to feel drowsy or lose focus.
