- Lamborghini just recalled two Revuelto hybrid supercars over a potential fire risk.
- Each car may have a minor defect that could, in rare cases, cause flames.
- The recall follows an incident where an influencer’s Revuelto burned in New York.
Most Lamborghini Revuelto owners can rest easy, as a fire that happened in October doesn’t appear to be due to a widespread issue. At the same time, two of them do need to have a dealer inspect their supercars and potentially work on them. They might want to trailer their vehicles to get the service too, with evidence suggesting that the affected models could catch fire even with very limited mileage on them.
This drama stems from a Revuelto fire that took place in New York back in October, sparking an investigation by Lamborghini. After poking around the charred remains of the car, Lamborghini engineers eventually pinpointed the culprit: “a possible oil leakage from one connection of the oil circuit flange from radiator to oil tank,” according to Lamborghini’s findings.

The report reveals that the fiery Revuelto in question had undergone a rework of its oil circuit prior to the incident. When that happened, nobody confirmed that the screws holding the oil line to the flange were torqued correctly. When oil escapes that flange, it can drip onto hot components and catch fire.
Curiously, this brings us to a high-profile Revuelto fire that took place last October. It involved influencer Ethan Duran and his barely-driven car with just 108 miles on the odometer, when it suddenly decided to turn into a fireball. Duran pulled over immediately after spotting flames shooting out of the rear end. Lamborghini hasn’t officially confirmed whether Duran’s crispy Revuelto is the same car mentioned in its NHTSA filing, but let’s just say the odds are better than average.
Fortunately, Lamborghini says this isn’t a widespread problem. The two affected owners—yes, just two—will need to have their cars inspected at a dealership. If needed, technicians will tighten the oil circuit flange screws properly. Once that’s handled, everything should be golden.
Better yet, any Revuelto rolling off the production line this month or later won’t have this issue at all. Lamborghini says updated production processes have eliminated the defect, so the risk of your hypercar becoming a firestarter has officially diminished.
