• A customized Porsche Boxster awkwardly attempts to pass itself off as a GT3 RS.
  • The owner replaced the taillights and rear bumper in their ambitious transformation attempt.
  • This quirky project highlights the polarizing world of ambitious but awkward car modifications.

The Porsche Boxster has long been lauded as a fantastic sports car—lightweight, nimble, and plenty of fun to drive. But apparently, for one owner, “very good” wasn’t quite enough. Instead, they decided their Boxster should cosplay as the much-pricier Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The result? An awkward and slightly cringey mash-up that’s causing a stir online.

This peculiar specimen was recently spotted by a Redditor who couldn’t resist snapping a photo and sharing it with the world. From the looks of it, the car resides somewhere in the States, and while we can applaud the owner’s enthusiasm for customization, there’s no denying the execution feels, well, a bit misguided. There’s no shame in owning a Boxster, so why go through the trouble of pretending it’s something it’s not?.

As part of the car’s transformation into a wannabee GT3 RS, the Boxster’s rear fascia has been swapped out to one with the same taillights as a 991-generation Porsche 911 and appears to feature a small black GT3 badge. A new bumper has also been fitted, although it has a weird curvature to it that looks at odds with the rest of the car’s design. Exiting out of the center of this bumper are twin tailpipes.

The changes don’t stop there. The car features a cheap-looking rear wing, a pair of aftermarket wheels, and the famous ‘GT3 RS’ black side livery. As the poster points out, this looks like a Temu version of a 911 GT3 RS.

While this Boxster won’t be to the taste of most Porsche enthusiasts, it’s important to remember the world of car customization is a weird and wonderful place. People love to express themselves with their cars, making upgrades and modifications to their styling and performance. The changes made here are questionable, but in the end, if the owner likes them, that’s all that matters.
