• Rolls-Royce has introduced a new roadster that is part art piece and part toy car.
  • The model is constructed out of aluminum, wood, and the same leather as a ‘real’ Rolls-Royce.
  • One dealer has the Cameo listed for $5,500 and it would make an excellent, although pricey, Christmas gift.

Ultra-luxury convertibles are the ultimate expression of carefree elegance, but they’ve largely fallen by the wayside. The Bentley Azure is a distant memory, while the Rolls-Royce Dawn and Phantom Drophead Coupé have also sailed off into the sunset.

Rolls-Royce has now introduced a new roadster and you can buy it from showrooms as well as their Private Offices. It has all the wood and leather you’d expect, but it’s a tad smaller than usual.

Called the Cameo, the model is billed as an “exquisite miniature sculpture” that pays homage to the company’s early open-top motor cars. Despite this, the roadster has a thoroughly modern design and uses the same materials you’d find in a road-going Rolls-Royce.

Designed to be assembled by the owner, the high-end arts and crafts project has a solid oak body as well as a polished aluminum ‘tub.’ They attach magnetically and are joined by an aluminum chassis as well as four wheels with self-leveling center caps.

Buyers will also find a 3D-printed interior, which features the same leather as a traditional Rolls-Royce. They’re joined by a driver, which appears to have an aluminum body as well as a leather cap.

Rolls-Royce didn’t mention pricing, but one dealer already has the Cameo listed in their online store. They’re asking $5,500 (£4,347 / €5,243), which doesn’t sound all that bad. However, don’t expect a Cyber Monday discount.
