• ESB Style has introduced a new tuning kit for the Toyota Roomy, Daihatsu Thor, and Subaru Justy.
  • The kit includes redesigned bumpers and steel wheels inspired by the Land Cruiser’s design.
  • The company also offers a camping mat, allowing owners to sleep inside the cabin of the minivan.

Toyota might be cooking up big plans for the Land Cruiser lineup including the introduction of a compact SUV, but few expected this: the face of the off-roader slapped onto a pint-sized minivan. Leave it to Japanese tuner ESB Style to dream up the “Landc Roomy,” a thoroughly bizarre yet oddly charming mashup of rugged aesthetics and compact practicality. If you’ve ever looked at a Toyota Roomy and thought, “This could use a bit more apocalypse-prep vibes,” well, congratulations—this one’s for you.

The “Landc Roomy” borrows its rugged nose straight from the big Land Cruiser Series 300, complete with a grille extension and aggressive bumper intakes. Around back, ESB Style added a sporty rear bumper featuring a body-colored diffuser, which might not scream off-road beast, but at least it looks fun. If that’s not enough, you can slap on the optional roof box to really nail the adventurer aesthetic, or just carry more groceries.

The modified minivan rides on white steelies, wrapped in grippy Toyo Open Country R/T rubber. Furthermore, a new set of springs provides an extra 30 mm (1.2 inches) of ground clearance, making the Roomy more capable off the beaten track, especially when combined with the 4WD version that’s available from the factory.

Under the hood, though, the Roomy stays true to its humble roots. Therefore, you’re stuck with one of two 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engines. The turbocharged version offers a modest 97 hp (72 kW / 98 PS).

The interior gets its own share of quirky upgrades. ESB Style added a foldable “Fox Mat,” which turns the Roomy into a makeshift camper, complete with a bed. Of course, at just 3,725 mm (146.7 inches) in length, which places it above the kei car segment in Japan, the Roomy isn’t exactly spacious.

For those not in the know, the Toyota Roomy is essentially a rebadged Daihatsu Thor that’s also sold as the Subaru Justy. Thankfully, ESB Style’s kit plays nice with all three models, even retrofitting onto older versions as long as they’ve been updated with the newer grille introduced during the Roomy’s 2020 facelift.

The Toyota “Landc Roomy” will premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, but the parts are already available to order in Japan. If you’re itching to transform your Roomy into a “Landc Roomy,” here’s the damage. The front bumper will set you back ¥100,000 ($635), while the rear bumper is priced at ¥60,000 ($381). The suspension lift kit comes in at ¥50,000 ($317), the white steelies will cost you ¥60,000 ($381), and the foldable mattress is another ¥25,000 ($159). That’s a grand total of ¥295,000 ($1,873) before taxes.
