• This M5 is reportedly a demo car owned by a dealership in the Netherlands.
  • The extent of the damage remains unclear, but the car may still be repairable.
  • The crash happened after the M5 jumped a curb, hit an embankment, and got stuck.

So, what’s the shelf life of a brand-new BMW M5? Apparently, not very long, at least if you’re a dealership intern, a clumsy test driver, or someone who forgot 717 horsepower isn’t something to mess around with. It’s been less than a month since one G90-generation M5 met an unfortunate end, and surprise, surprise, we’ve already got another one spearing off into the weeds. T

This crash occurred somewhere in the Netherlands, and according to one of the commentators on Reddit, the M5 was a demo car owned by a local dealer. It’s unclear whether a potential customer was behind the wheel at the time or, as the same commenter suggests, a dealership intern was driving it. Whatever the case may be, we suspect the driver was left more than a little red-faced.

It appears the plug-in hybrid super sedan jumped over a curb on the side of the road before firing up a dirt embankment and getting stuck in a bunch of shrubbery. The road is covered in leaves and seems as though it could be a little damp too, meaning traction was not exactly optimal.

A series of images of the car were shared, but they don’t show the front of it, which took the brunt of the impact. We can see the hood has been popped open in the crash, but little else is visible. Inevitably, much of the grey paintwork has been scratched by all the sticks and small trees, but the car may have avoided significant structural damage as it doesn’t appear to have hit a large tree or post, like the matte black BMW M5 that crashed in late November.

Driving the new-age M5 is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. Combined, they deliver 717 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Although power is sent through all four wheels, having as much grunt as a Lamborghini Aventador in a luxury sedan means care should be taken with a car like the M5. Evidently, whoever crashed this one has been taught a very expensive lesson.
