Lincoln sales have been in the gutter the past few years, but they’ve gotten a lot of help from a surprising source: China. However, we’re not talking Chinese sales but rather an import.

Hailing from the Changan Hangzhou Assembly Plant, the Nautilus was Lincoln’s best-selling vehicle by a considerable margin. Fourth quarter sales were up 88% to 10,241 units, while annual sales climbed 50% to finish the year at 36,544.

While the crossover comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) of torque, 39% of customers opted for the hybrid variant. It adds a 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) motor into the mix and this gives the model a combined output of 310 hp (231 kW / 379 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. More importantly, the fuel economy rating climbs to 30 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.

Lincoln sales were also buoyed by the facelifted Aviator. The update helped to spur interest, driving up annual sales 62.3% to 25,235 units.

Even the aging Corsair had a good year as sales were up 12.8% to 27,513. Speaking of old, the outgoing Navigator was down 11.5% to 15,531 units.

However, help is on the way as a redesigned Navigator will arrive this spring. Unfortunately, it’s ridiculously expensive as pricing starts at $99,995 before a $1,995 destination fee. That’s far more than the facelifted Cadillac Escalade, which has a larger 55-inch display as well as a more modest $87,595 price tag.

Overall, Lincoln sales were up 28.1% for the year to 104,823 units. The company went on to note they achieved their best annual retail sales since 2007.
