- The mid-engine Corvette soared into the air after hitting a grass embankment.
- There’s a chance the car suffered wheel, suspension, or even chassis damage.
- If you’re ever involved in a crash like this, thoroughly inspect your car before driving off.
The driver of a blue C8 Chevy Corvette in the US should be thanking their lucky stars they didn’t smash into a lamp post or land upside down in a grass embankment after spearing off a highway earlier this month.
Dashcam footage shows the ‘Vette careening across three lanes of traffic on a highway at just past 9:15 pm on December 19. It’s unclear how the driver lost control of the car, but after sliding in front of the cammer, the mid-engined supercar slides into a grass median on the side of the busy motorway, narrowly avoiding several lamp posts.

Although the Chevy doesn’t hit any poles or crash barriers, it slams into a small hump in the grass, briefly lifting it up into the air. At this stage, most drivers would have slammed on the brakes and got out to inspect their car for damage. That’s not what this driver did. Instead, they continue on their merry way, getting back onto the highway.
We’d be extremely surprised if the car got out of it unscathed when its rear end flew through the air and slammed back into the dirt. Parts like the springs, shocks, and control arms may have been damaged, and it was pretty silly for the driver to continue without first inspecting the car. Even the chassis might have been impacted, and we’d be shocked if the wheels have avoided being bent or buckled.
If – by some miracle – the Corvette managed to escape the incident without needing any repairs, then kudos has to be given to Chevy for building one tough machine. Or, maybe the driver was very lucky indeed if he got out of it without a serious dent in his car and his pocket.
