Desert Power Wagons LLC has unveiled its latest custom-built vehicle: a 4-door Dodge Power Wagon finished in Jupiter Red. Completed in December 2024 after over 5,000 hours of craftsmanship, this monstrous truck ain’t for shrinking violets.
If you’re not familiar with the Power Wagon’s origin, long before it became a trim level on modern-day Ram pickups, the model can trace its history back to the Second World War. Following the war, the Power Wagon became the first mass-produced civilian truck in the US, heavily based around the military’s WC series.

This 4-door Desert Power Wagon takes the classic looks of the original but integrates some contemporary elements. You’ll find a bold exterior, highlighted by gloss black fenders and running boards. There’s also an oak bed floor with stainless steel slats, further maintaining ties to its heritage.
The truck is powered by a 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel inline six-cylinder engine that produces 385 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a modern 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission, Desert Power Wagons tells us that the drivetrain is engineered to handle a range of driving conditions, from urban environments to off-road trails.
Off-Road Capability
While the truck no doubt looks good and has enough power to move itself, this is more than just a skin-deep build. Built on a proprietary fully-boxed steel ladder frame, the vehicle features a Carli 2.5″ Backcountry 2.0 suspension system, 9.5 inches of travel, and a BorgWarner BW44-46 electric shift-on-the-fly transfer case. These components are intended to enhance both ride comfort and terrain adaptability.
The truck is also equipped with 20” Method Race Wheels and 40” Maxxis Razr M/T tires, offering improved traction and durability for off-road applications. Additionally, features like a Warn M12 Heavyweight electric winch and full LED lighting provide added functionality in challenging conditions.
A Modern-Day Interior – And A HUGE Price Tag
The interior has been modernized with design elements “inspired” by the present-day Ram 2500 Limited. It features custom upholstery, including diamond-stitched Ebony Salerno leather with red piping and crocodile-embossed accents. The cabin also includes heated and ventilated seats, a Shizhen 12-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and a JL Audio sound system.
The price for all this bespoke work? A cool $425,000. Or in other terms, six brand new 2024 Ram 2500 Power Wagons with an MSRP of $69,725. So what do you think? Is this restomod truck your kind of cool, or would you prefer something completely original instead?
