• The recently updated Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV transforms into a gaming-inspired concept.
  • The Night Seeker is one of the eight Mitsubishi concepts that will be exhibited in Tokyo.
  • The lineup includes four Triton pickups, two Delica D:5 minivans, and one Delica Mini kei car.

Mitsubishi has announced its lineup for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, including eight concepts. The most interesting of the bunch is the Outlander PHEV Night Seeker, which is inspired by the popular video game Metal Gear Solid. The SUV will be joined by modified versions of the Triton pickup and the Delica D:5 minivan.

The Night Seeker concept is based on the recently updated Outlander PHEV, featuring a custom bodykit, new wheels, and a bunch of accessories, giving it a military look. The front end is covered by a transparent visor that appears to protect the grille and headlights. This is joined by a metal skid plate incorporating dual recovery points and extra LEDs.

The profile of the SUV features sharp fender extensions, with a matte finish matching the custom roof rack. The finishing touches are the dark livery with Metal Gear Solid graphics, and the wheel covers with an armored look.

Mitsubishi didn’t mention any chassis or performance upgrades for the concept. Note that the updated plug-in hybrid powertrain of the Outlander produces a combined 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS), while the slightly larger 22.7 kWh battery pack contributes to a combined range of 524 miles (844 km).

Mitsubishi Delica D:5 Black Edition Active Seeker

Next up is the Mitsubishi Delica D:5 Black Edition Active Seeker concept, based on the aging crossover minivan. The livery with gunmetal and low saturation green sades features graphics that resemble the topography of Tokachi, Hokkaido, which is where Mitsubishi’s proving ground is located. The Delica D:5 is also fitted with protective gear, off-road wheels, and a roof tent for camping.

Mitsubishi Triton Hiromi and Red Bull Street Jam

Mitsubishi’s Tokyo lineup will also include modified versions of the Triton pickup. The orange Triton Hiromi features a sporty bodykit, aftermarket wheels, and lowered suspension, while the black Triton Red Bull Street Jam is designed for dance events with an integrated DJ Booth on the cargo bed. These will be joined by the winner of the Triton Custom Contest, that will be selected among 16 entries from local parts manufacturers and tuning shops.

Last but not least, Mitsubishi will bring the trio of vehicles that participated at the AXCR 2024 motorsport event. The centerpiece is the Triton rally car, joined by the specially modified Delica D:5 and Delica Mini support cars with matching liveries.
