• Check out the 16 entries in the official Mitsubishi Triton Custom contest in Japan.
  • Most of the trucks feature off-road modifications, including lift kits and various accessories.
  • There are also slammed Tritons and overlanding camper conversions ready for adventure.

Mitsubishi organized an interesting truck modification contest in Japan, calling on local parts manufacturers and tuning shops to create the ultimate version of the Triton. The winning entry among the 16 modified pickups will be exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025.

All of the custom Tritons were shown at the “Let’s Go 4WD Fest 2024” on November 10, 2024, with some companies having more than one entries. Mitsubishi has highlighted the tuning potential of the midsize pickup since the debut of the current generation in July 2023.

Starting with the sporty trucks, the black Triton by Kuhl Japan and the white Triton by SPD Creation embraced a lowrider aesthetic. Both feature slammed suspensions, large-diameter alloy wheels with low-profile tires, and custom bodykits with bold aerodynamic elements.

However, it’s important to note that both tuners also showcased high-riding versions for those who don’t want to compromise the truck’s off-road capabilities. In fact, most of the contest entries focused on enhancing the Triton’s adventurous spirit, with upgraded suspensions, grippier tires, underbody protection, and various off-road accessories.

Some of the most rugged Tritons came from JAOS, M-Climb, Colt Speed, and Brainstorm. Furthermore, Flags created two overlanding builds featuring storage solutions for sports equipment.

Another popular theme explored by several tuners is the truck-based camper. Flex Dreams transformed the rear bed into a sleeping area, featuring a retractable roof section that extends above the cabin for extra space. Similarly, MDF Equipment opted for a massive roof tent with an integrated ladder and a large awning for added convenience. The latter also boasts a striking body kit from Thailand, blending rugged off-road elements with sporty accents.

Mitsubishi said that the Grand Prize and Excellence Prize winners will be determined based on the results of the online voting that remained open between November 11-24. Furthermore, the company will honor two more entries with special awards by brand ambassador Mr. Hiromi and local motor journalist Kei Takeoka.
