The Italians have a long and celebrated history of building some of the world’s finest sports cars, and now, a newly formed brand from the country’s northwest is ready to join that tradition. Automobili Mignatta, based in Valfenera d’Asti, has teased its first creation: a two-seater speedster that aims to blend cutting-edge technology with the timeless appeal of 1960s sports cars. They’ve named it the Rina.
The Rina will be built on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and come standard with lightweight carbon fiber body panels. Teasers reveal a classic speedster profile, complete with a long hood, pronounced arches, and a seductive rear end. Notable design details include tinted headlights, compact wing mirrors, rollover hoops, sculpted buttresses, and a prominent rear lip spoiler. Adding to its retro-modern charm are a pair of circular LED taillights.

It’s not just the exterior design of the car that evokes simpler times. Automobili Mignatta will equip the Rina with a naturally aspirated V8 mounted behind the passenger compartment. This will be mated to a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential to deliver an old-school driving experience.
While it’s unclear if the V8 is a proprietary engine, sourced from a third party or derived from an existing production car, there’s little doubt it will produce an intoxicating soundtrack. Performance numbers are still unknown, but with a weight of just 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg), it should have a quite good power-to-weight ratio.
No shots of the car’s cabin have been released just yet. However, the brand has confirmed the driver and passenger seats will be molded directly into the carbon monocoque and the car will make do without a radio, ensuring the V8 remains the centerpiece of the driving experience.
Automobili Mignatta plans to officially unveil the Rina on May 8. Production will be limited to just 30 handmade units per year, underscoring the exclusivity of this Italian creation.
