• Polaris has introduced the facelifted Slingshot, which features revised styling.
  • The model also has an upgraded engine lineup producing up to 204 horsepower.
  • Buyers will also find a revised suspension and a revamped AutoDrive transmission.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Polaris Slingshot and the company is celebrating by giving the three-wheeler a facelift. However, the changes are more than skin deep as the model also benefits from a retuned suspension and an upgraded engine lineup.

Starting up front, there’s a new front fascia with angular accents, a wider intake, and revamped ‘wings.’ The changes aren’t just aesthetic as Polaris noted the new front end adds an inch (25 mm) of ground clearance to the S, SL, and SLR models.

It’s a subtle change, but the look varies by trim. The entry-level S has components with a textured finish, while the SL adds front-end graphics. The SLR has painted wings and lower accent lights, while the range-topping R has a fully painted front end with a splitter and a ventilated hood.

Interior changes are limited, but the SLR and R come with a new Stage 2 Max Audio Package by Rockford Fosgate. It features larger eight-inch speakers that deliver a “crisp sound quality to counteract road and vehicle noise with increased volume and more bass.” Other highlights include a new key fob, a gas cap tether, and security improvements.

On the performance front, the 2.0-liter ProStar four-cylinder engine has been retuned to deliver a “modest bump in horsepower and a broader torque curve.” Thanks to the changes, the S and SL are now rated at 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) and 129 lb-ft (175 Nm) of torque. That’s a small, but welcome increase of 2 hp (1 kW / 2 PS) and 9 lb-ft (12 Nm).

The SLR and R have also been upgraded as they’re rated at 204 hp (152 kW / 207 PS) and 150 lb-ft (203 Nm) of torque. Those numbers are up by just 1 hp (1 kW / 1 PS) and 6 lb-ft (8 Nm).

The engines are paired with a standard five-speed manual transmission. However, an AutoDrive transmission is optional and it’s been updated to provide a “more intuitive and smoother driving experience.”

The drivability improvements extend beyond the powertrain as the 2025 Slingshot benefits from a revised suspension. It aims to deliver improved handling and greater confidence.

Pricing for the entry-level Slingshot S climbs from $21,999 to $24,999. That’s a pretty sizable jump, but the model now comes standard with the Technology Package 1. It includes a Rockford Fosgate audio system, a security system, rear storage locks, and a windscreen.

The Slingshot SL has a modest price increase of $150, while the SLR climbs $250. The R splits the difference with a $200 increase.

The 2025 lineup will be headed to dealers in March and Slingshot Vice President Josh Hermes said, “Ten years ago, we introduced a vehicle unlike anything else on the road. With three wheels and an open-air cockpit, the Slingshot has withstood the test of time and continues to stand out from the crowd with its one-of-a-kind style.”
