The driver of a Mercedes-AMG C 63 S sedan was arrested in Beirut, Lebanon, in late December after driving into a local police officer. Footage of the reckless driving recently emerged on social media, and it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by police officers all around the world on a daily basis.
Footage of the incident shows the driver of a white C 63 S speeding through along a busy street in the center of the city. After speeding past the cameraman, the Mercedes quickly approaches two police officers who had pulled over a scooter on the side of the road. One of the officers steps out in front of the super sedan, signaling the driver to stop and pull over.

However, the driver refuses and, after briefly hitting the brakes, accelerates and hits the officer. They then pin the throttle, lighting up the rear tires of the AMG as the officer clings desperately to the car’s roof. The driver then slams on the brakes, causing the officer to slide off and slam into the pavement.
While the driver fled from the scene, local media understands the Internal Security Forces arrested him shortly after. The 20-year-old had reportedly recently landed in Lebanon to complete university studies. The driver’s family, believed to be wealthy, claims he turned himself in to security forces and that hitting the officer was not intentional. They added he “had no ill intent.”
Fortunately, the police officer survived the hit-and-run but had to be treated on the scene and transported to hospital after suffering several injuries. The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, praised the response of local authorities, according to L’Orient Today reports.
