  • The new 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S gets a 30 hp bump in power, more standard equipment, and is available in coupe and cabriolet.

Yes, we’re barely two weeks into 2025, and we already have a new 911 variant to report on. We say “new,” but it’s more appropriate to call this a reintroduction, as the Carrera S moniker returns to the lineup, having taken a sabbatical when the 992.2 was introduced back in May 2024.

As the name implies, the 911 Carrera S is a more potent take on the standard Carerra, slotting between the entry-level model and the Carerra GTS T-Hybrid. It uses the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine as its smaller Carrera sibling but adds more power and standard equipment.

More Go, No Row

Fans of rowing your own gears will be disappointed that, for now at least, the Carrera S will only be available in the US with an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. It’s a bit of a blow considering the first iteration of the 992-gen (pre-facelift to those less savvy with the naming conventions) came with a seven-speed manual ’box alongside the PDK. Those who still feel the need for the stick will still be able to get one in the 911 T, albeit with a lot less power.

Speaking of power, the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S gets a healthy increase in power over the previous edition. The turbochargers have been upgraded, and there’s charge air cooling. The result is that horsepower is up by 30 hp, with a total output of 473 hp, with the same amount of torque, at 390 lb-ft. The added oomph gets you to 60 mph from rest 0.2 seconds faster than the previous Carrera S, with a time of 3.1 seconds with the Sport Chrono package. The Carrera S will go on to a top speed of 191 mph (307 km/h).

More As Standard, But Plenty Of Options

The 2025 Carrera S will get the Sport Exhaust System with silver tailpipes as standard, while to handle the added turn of speed, the new S borrows brakes from the previous-gen GTS. The brakes measure 408 mm in the front and 380 mm in the rear, covered by staggered 20/21-inch wheels. Other things you don’t have to worry about optioning in are the Matrix LED headlamps, redesigned dampers with optimized hydraulics, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus.

There’s still plenty to option, with upgrades like Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and PASM Sport Suspension offering even sharper dynamics. For those seeking ultimate agility, the optional rear-axle steering system enhances maneuverability at low speeds and stability at high speeds. It also includes a quicker steering ratio and revised front axle kinematics.

Inside, the 2025 Carrera S introduces a more luxurious interior, with an expanded use of leather across the seats, headrests, and upper dashboard as standard. Cabriolet models come with rear seats included, while Coupe buyers can opt for a rear-seat deletion to reduce weight. For those who desire even more personalization, Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur offers a full leather interior with up to 48 two-tone combinations.
