Some classic Porsche 911s are fetching silly money on the used car market as people rush to buy an iconic sports car before the automotive world goes electric. Last week, another 911 sold for an eye-popping amount in the UK. However, this wasn’t a real 911, nor a functional Porsche. It was an art piece inspired by a Porsche 934 911, and it fetched £201,000 (~$250,000).
This eye-catching art piece is the work of London artist Benedict Radcliffe and was presented at Milan Design Week in 2022. It was later displayed in Beijing and Shanghai and formed part of an official exhibition with Porsche China.

While the winning bidder hasn’t ended up with a car they can drive, they do now possess a one-off art piece. It aims to mimic the shape and profile of the beloved Porsche 934 racing car built for FIA Group 4 rules in the 1970s.
Based on the road-going 911 Turbo, the 934 competed in multiple racing series, including the European GT Championship and the Australian Sports Car Championship. Only 31 examples were ever manufactured. This art piece remembers one of the most iconic 934s of the day, chassis #0167, that raced with a bright orange Jägermeister livery.
Collecting Cars notes it’s been constructed to 1:1 scale of that race car using 32-mm mild steel tubes powder coated in gloss Fluro Orange. The steel has been beautifully crafted to mimic many of the 934’s most recognizable components, including the rear wing. It also sits on original BBS split-rim wheels just like the racer, clad in Avon tires. The entire thing was measured, shaped, and welded by hand.
The sales price was roughly three times that of some driveable 930 Porsche 911 Turbos. That’s what art means to some people: if you really want it, you must be willing to pay for it.
