• Ram has revealed their Super Bowl commercial, which stars actor Glen Powell.
  • It features a retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but with three pickups.
  • The ad is designed to promote “power of choice for truck buyers.”

Ram truck sales plummeted 16% last year to 373,120 units, which meant they barely outsold GMC. That’s an embarrassing showing and it capped a dismal year for Stellantis in America.

Ram is now trying to stop the bleeding with a new Super Bowl commercial that stars actor Glen Powell as well as the 1500 Ramcharger, 1500 RHO, and 2500 Rebel. That’s a diverse lineup that includes the company’s new range-extended pickup, the facelifted heavy duty variant, and the high-performance TRX successor.

Dubbed “Drive Your Own Story,” the ad is being billed as a 60-second film that sees Powell tell his real-life niece and nephew his own version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It’s a humorous take on the classic story where Goldilocks is replaced by a “rugged, woodsy dude.” Porridge also gives way to three trucks that “look just right.”

As Van Halen’s Panama plays in the background, Powell slays a dragon and hauls it back home in a trailer BBQ pit. He then uses the Ramcharger and electric chainsaws to make a sculpture of himself, before jumping a volcano in the RHO.

Ram said the commercial is design to shine a spotlight on “freedom” and the “power of choice for truck buyers” as they can choose from “gas-powered to battery-powered to heavy-duty options.” There’s even a Hemi in the mix as the 2500 and 3500 have a slightly detuned 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that produces 405 hp (302 kW / 411 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque.

The company is also trying to promote the 1500 Ramcharger, which will go up for order in the second quarter. It has a 92 kWh battery pack as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 663 hp (494 kW / 672 PS) and 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) of torque. However, the real coup de grâce is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that acts as a generator and enables the truck to travel up to 690 miles (1,110 km) without stopping. The model is also pretty quick as the dash from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) should only take 4.4 seconds.
