• Volkswagen has announced pricing for the 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R.
  • The GTI starts at $32,445 and features revised styling inside and out.
  • The $47,100 Golf R has an upgraded engine that now produces 328 hp.

Volkswagen introduced the facelifted Golf GTI and Golf R last year, but they’re finally making their way stateside. They feature a host of upgrades as well as higher sticker prices to boot.

Starting with the Golf GTI, the model begins at $32,445 which makes it $480 more expensive than its predecessor. That’s a small increase and the facelifted hatchback has a new front bumper, restyled headlights, and an updated color palette that now includes Alpine Silver Metallic and Slate Blue Metallic. Buyers will also find a light bar, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, an adaptive front lighting system, and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires.

The changes continue inside with Carbon Gray trim and a new 12.9-inch infotainment system, which is faster and has a more intuitive layout. They’re joined by physical steering wheel buttons, a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and an AI-enabled voice assistant. Other highlights include GPS navigation and a suite of IQ.Drive assistance systems.

The mid-level Golf GTI SE begins at $37,420 and features a lightly revised exterior with automatic high beam headlights and 18-inch R-design alloy wheels. They’re joined by a sunroof, a keyless entry system, and a  harman/kardon premium audio system. The model also has Clubsport ArtVelours upholstery, although leather seats are available as part of a $1,300 package.

The range-topping Golf GTI Autobahn begins at $40,880 and has adaptive damping as well as larger 19-inch wheels shod in summer tires. Buyers will also find an upgraded interior with heated/ventilated leather front seats, heated rear seats, and a tri-zone climate control system. They’re joined by a head-up display and Park Assist Plus.

Regardless of which trim is selected, all GTIs are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 241 hp (180 kW / 244 PS). While the output remains unchanged, the six-speed manual is dead as all models now have a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Golf R Gains Power And A Euro Styling Package

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf R isn’t for the feint of heart as pricing begins at $47,100. That’s an increase of $1,435 and it means the model is only slightly cheaper than the Audi S3, which begins at $48,700.

While that might sound like an apples to oranges comparison, both models are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 328 hp (245 kW / 333 PS). They’re paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to a standard all-wheel drive system.

Styling changes echo the GTI, but the Golf R rides on 19-inch forged alloy wheels that are 20% lighter than the ones used on the previous model. Buyers will also find a well-equipped cabin with heated and ventilated Nappa leather front seats, heated rear seats, and a sunroof. The hot hatch also has new trim, a keyless entry system, a harman/kardon premium audio system, and a 15-watt wireless phone charger.

2025 VW Golf GTI And Golf R Go Automatic-Only, Get More Expensive

The Golf R Black Edition costs $48,415 and features a Mythos Black Metallic, Pure White, or Lapiz Blue Metallic exterior with gloss black 19-inch wheels. The model also has tinted headlights, black badging, and black brake calipers. Rounding out the highlights are dark flourishes and carbon fiber interior trim.

Buyers looking for something more unique can opt for a $3,795 Euro Style Package, which is available on both the Golf R and Golf R Black Edition. It’s a lightweight package that removes 15 lbs (6.8 kg) of weight thanks to fabric seats, a sunroof delete, and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system.
