- Volvo’s XC60 is getting another mild makeover as it begins its ninth year on sale.
- An XC90-style air intake is joined by new wheel designs and darker taillights.
- The interior gets a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen display and a faster infotainment system.
Things have been a bit quiet on the XC60 front lately, at least in terms of news content. Most Volvo coverage has centered on the little EX30 EV, updated XC90, and upcoming EX60. But things definitely haven’t been quiet in Volvo showrooms where the XC60 is concerned. The second-generation model has been the Swedish automaker’s best-selling product since it debuted in 2017, and now the midsize SUV is getting some attention to ensure it keeps bringing in the krona. Or yen.
Volvo last updated the XC60 in 2021 when it gave it a new grille, wheels, color and trim options, and improved the infotainment system. The 2026 MY revisions follow a very similar path, meaning the SUV enters its ninth year looking very little different from how it did during its first, but with some useful improvements on the inside.

The biggest exterior giveaway to the 2026MY model is the new grille, modeled on the revised grille design Volvo introduced with the XC90 last year. Instead of a simple grid pattern, the grille contains a series of diagonal lines, with those on the right side pointing away from and overlapping the ones on the left. Strangely, some of BMW’s new grilles look very similar.
Volvo has also fitted darker taillights – a classic facelift trick, how many times have we seen that? -, new optional wheel designs, and added a couple of different paint options. Cabin updates include new materials designed to make the ambience more premium, including Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave, a better wireless phone charger, and new cupholders.

What’ll grab you most at the showroom though, is the new infotainment screen. It’s jumped in size from 9.0 to 11.2 inches, has a better pixel density to deliver sharper images, and is backed by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. Volvo says this backroom tech makes the whole package twice as fast as the outgoing system, and 10 times as fast at generating graphics.
The fancier screen setup, with multiple Google services built-in, will find its way into all new Volvos this year. But the new-look user interface will also be rolled out to Volvos built as far back as 2020 through an over-air date during 2025.
Volvo doesn’t appear to have messed with the XC60‘s powertrains, so US cars should still get a choice of a 247 hp (250 PS), 2.0-liter mild-hybrid 4-cylinder in the B5 and a 455 hp (461 PS) version in the T8 PHEV that swaps the 48-volt electrics for a real motor and battery. The UK and Europe also get a less punchy plug-in, the 345 hp (350 PS) T6. Prices will be revealed closer to the on-sale date.
