• This insane G-Wagen makes the Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 seem a little boring.
  • Plush white leather adorns the glorious cabin of the custom G-Class.
  • Carlex Design has yet to disclose how much the insane Mercedes will cost.

Carlex Design first made a name for itself with its eye-catching yet refined interior upgrades for several luxury cars, but in recent years, it’s ventured out and taken on more ambitious projects. Its latest creation is a wild six-wheeled Mercedes-Benz G-Class fit for the Pope, dubbed the Habemus.

The insane Mercedes-based model has so far only been previewed with a series of renderings, and while we’ve seen many interesting takes on the G-Class over the years, we’ve never seen one quite like this. It’s unclear if Carlex plans to base the model on a million-dollar G63 6×6, or instead turn a regular G-Class into a six-wheeler, but we think that’s the most likely option.

The front half of the Habemus is mostly regular G-Class, sans the custom grilles, bumper, and dramatic gold elements. From the B-pillar back is where things get crazy.

Positioned directly behind the cabin is an expansive bed, but it’s not one designed to lug around tools. Instead, it is based around a large swiveling seat right in the center. It’s a similar setup to the new all-electric G-Class Popemobile, but offers way more space thanks to the longer wheelbase and extra rear axle. Positioned on the sides of the bed are four smaller seats.

 Carlex’s 6×6 Mercedes G-Wagen Is Popemobile-Level Ridiculous

Given that this is a project from Carlex, it’s only fitting that the cabin appears to be trimmed in all manner of high-end materials. White leather adorns most of it, but there’s also a lush red carpet running through the bed. These custom touches, combined with the golden trimmings throughout, certainly make this G-Wagen stand out from the pack.

We’ve reached out to the Polish company to see what its plans are for the Habemus and if it will become a reality. If it does, it’s unlikely to actually be used by the Pope, as it’s only been a few months since Mercedes delivered a new G 580 EQ to him.
