• GM could end production of the gas-powered Blazer by the 2025 model year.
  • Prices for the Blazer 2LT start at $36,795, much cheaper than the base Blazer EV.
  • It’s unclear if GM plans a direct replacement for the outgoing Chevrolet Blazer.

The days of the internal combustion Chevrolet Blazer may be numbered, with a new report suggesting it could be discontinued after the 2025 model year. If true, the Blazer would join the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 in early retirement, leaving the all-electric Blazer as the sole survivor in the lineup.

Sources familiar with Chevrolet’s plans reportedly told GM Authority that production of the North American Blazer will be phased out at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Currently, this facility builds not only the Blazer but also the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Cadillac Optiq, Chevy Blazer EV, and Honda Prologue. However, GM is preparing to transition the plant into an EV-exclusive production site.

When asked about the Blazer’s fate, GM neither confirmed nor denied the report, offering only the vague statement: “We have no portfolio changes to share and will not comment on speculation.” According to the report, this change won’t affect the larger three-row Blazer still sold in China.

Carscoops has reached out to GM for further clarification and will update this story if new details emerge.
