- Some speculate that Chevy could be preparing to launch a new Corvette Grand Sport.
- Many employees at the Bowling Green plant are retiring.
- Production will be paused for one week in February, two weeks in March, and one week in May.
General Motors is pausing production of the Chevrolet Corvette at its Bowling Green assembly for four separate weeks through the end of May. Production is being paused for several different reasons, including getting the line ready for updates tipped to be made for the 2026 model.
The first week-long pause at Bowling Green starts on February 24. Assembly will also be halted during the weeks starting March 17 and March 24, as well as the week of May 19. One of the main reasons for the production pauses is to control the inventory of the Corvette.

Additionally, a member of the Mid Engine Corvette Forum notes many employees at Bowling Green Assembly are retiring, and that GM does not intend to replace them. Other employees will be required to complete additional tasks, and this will necessitate “extensive re-training.” Changes are also being made for the 2026 model year Corvette.
Limited details are known about the changes for the 2026 Corvette. There has long been talk about the brand readying a significant interior overhaul for the C8, but Chevy has not said if this will happen. One forum member speculates it could be a new Grand Sport model, which could sit nicely in the range between the Stingray and the E-Ray, likely using an upgraded version of the standard 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8, but perhaps without hybrid assistance.
Carscoops has reached out to Chevrolet seeking more information and will update this story when we hear back.

Some smaller changes could be implemented across the 2026MY line-up, aside from any new models launched, including different color options and updated interior finishes.
The most exciting new Corvette model entering the production line is the ZR1. It rocks a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft (1,121 Nm) of torque sent to the rear wheels. The big ‘Vette can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.3 seconds and hit 233 mph.
