• The Huracan Sterrato is a purpose-built off-road supercar with a price tag of near$280,000.
  • An adventurous owner put it to the test, pushing the car’s off-road capabilities to the limit.
  • Despite its ground clearance and all-terrain tires, the Sterrato still ended up stuck in the snow.

Lamborghini built the Huracan Sterrato to do something rare. This supercar isn’t just supposed to be fast but it’s supposed to be fast when the road runs out. But how does that actually play out when faced with deep snow? Now, thanks to one driver near Lake Tahoe, we know… and the answer is… not as good as the driver probably hoped.

On Thursday, a photo popped up online of a Huracan Sterrato stuck in the snow on the side of a road. Naturally, the internet wasted no time dissecting what went wrong, with countless people speculating on the cause. The car was clearly prepped for a snowy destination—it even had a snowboard strapped to the roof. And let’s not forget its factory specs on this super-crossover (of sorts).

When it rolls off of the line at Lamborghini it does so with 6.4-inches of ground clearance, or two inches more than the standard Huracan, though still less than your average crossover. It also rides on specially developed Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrain AT002 tires, the world’s first all-terrain run-flat tire for supercars It’s designed to tackle dirt, gravel, and yes, even snow. Lamborghini has even proven it can do exactly that.

Despite its impressive specs and all the marketing hype, the driver still managed to get it stuck, And today, video of the initial loss of traction popped up as well. From what little we can tell, it appears as though the driver might have just pushed the go-pedal a little too hard a little too often.

To probably nobody’s surprise, commenters on Reddit weren’t exactly sympathetic. “You can’t fix stupid but apparently you can watch it drive a Lambo in a foot of snow,” said one. “Money doesn’t always equate to intelligence,” said another. Not everyone was as harsh though. Some even surmised that perhaps this was legitimately the best car the person had to get from point A to point B. That’s not likely true, but who knows?

Let’s be real here. The world might be full of supercars but so few of them have owners like this guy. The kind of people who actually use the car the way automakers intended and in this case, in ways that are even a little outside of their performance envelope. The Sterrato is a playful audacious supercar that sounds and looks just as ridiculous as any other modern Lamborghini. Kudos to this driver for taking it out into the elements and finding its limits.
