Stellantis had a tough 2024. It started the year battling bloated inventories and wrangling with US dealers complaining of uncompetitive prices and a shortage of trims people actually wanted to buy. By mid-2024, things were worse, half-year financials revealing profits had jumped off a cliff, and before 2025 rolled around the group’s controversial boss Carlos Tavares had left the chat.

Having got rid of Portugal-born Tavares, many American Stellantis employees are probably reluctant to take on any more European imports. But could the US arm of Stellantis benefit by bringing over some of the cars the automaker currently only sells in Europe?

There are certainly plenty to choose from. Some are marketed in the EU through brands that are already familiar to American buyers, like Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. And others could maybe be re-nosed and re-badged for US tastes in the way Dodge made the Italy-built Hornet out of the Alfa Tonale – and went on to massively outsell the donor car. Let’s take a look at a couple of the possibilities.

Peugeot E-5008

It’s shocking to think that Chrysler only has one model, the ancient Pacifica minivan, in its entire lineup these days. Never mind the Airflow EV it teased us in 2022, then scrapped – Chrysler doesn’t even have a compact family SUV to sell a nation obsessed with the things.

So why not bring over Peugeot’s combustion 5008 and electric E-5008, which use the STLA medium platform, or their smaller 3008/E-3008 brothers? Come to think of it, the E-408 crossover sedan would make a smart Chrysler or Dodge-badged rival to the Kia EV6.

Fiat Grande Panda

Although sales of the electric Fiat 500e climbed in the US, the numbers are still tiny. Maybe Fiat dealers would have better luck with the new Grande Panda, which could give Mitsubishi Mirage buyers somewhere to go once stocks of that now-discontinued subcompact run out this summer. The Citroen C3/e-C3 is built from the same Small Car platform and also offer combustion and electric powertrains, but the Fiat is more stylish.

Opel/Vauxhall Frontera

The Frontera also uses the Grande Panda’s Small Car platform, but in this case its not as small, its wheelbase growing from 2,540 mm (100 inches) to 2,670 mm (105.1 inches), which enables Opel to offer a third row of seats. If it does come to the US we hope the Defender-esque steelies-and-white-roof package also makes the trip.

DS No.8

Plans announced by Citroen a decade ago to bring DS to the US came to naught; the now independent DS has enough problems trying to sell its wares in Europe. But when the automaker starts showing cars as slick as the stunning new No.8 sedan, which goes on sale in France this summer, we can’t help thinking Stellantis in America should start putting an order in, no matter whose badge the cars are gonna wear when they arrive.

Jeep Avenger

This pocket-sized Jeep was crowned Car of the Year in Europe in 2023 and is available in combustion, hybrid and fully electric forms. It’s considered by some as too small, slow and not premium enough for US buyers, and the front-wheel drive configuration on entry-level models (AWD is available) doesn’t really fit with Jeep’s brand messaging in the states.

That’s a shame because the Avenger looks great and already has Jeep badges and design cues. Since Mini has had to delay the electric Cooper’s US debut, the Avenger presents an opportunity for Jeep, and it sounds like the brand’s CEO might be keen to jump on it.

Alfa Romeo Junior

And if the Avenger is a no-go, how about bringing over Alfa’s version of the same thing? The sub-Tonale-sized Junior is too small to suit Alfa’s premium positioning in the US, but perhaps it would work as a Dodge, giving the American brand its first EV.

What Should Stellantis Do?

So, which, if any, European Stellantis models do you think the automaker should bring to America, and which US brand would you assign them to? Drop your thoughts in the comments, if Stellantis won’t listen to its own financial reports, maybe it’ll listen to you.
