• The Renault Espace adopts a redesigned face and new taillights, similar to the Rafale.
  • It also gains new seats, improved soundproofing, and a driver recognition system.
  • The hybrid powertrain is good for a range of 1,100 km (684 miles) between refueling stops.

Renault has revealed a facelifted version of the Espace only two years after launching the current generation. This updated seven-seater SUV gets a fresh look, with extensive visual tweaks and subtle improvements inside. And while we’re all still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that a facelift is happening so soon, it’s worth noting that this version is also a sneak peek at what’s coming for the closely related Renault Austral.

Sharper New Looks

The 2025 Espace now sports Renault’s latest styling language, first seen on the flagship Rafale and quickly trickling down to the smaller Captur and Symbioz SUVs. The most noticeable changes include a reworked front end, with sharper LED headlights, redesigned DRLs, a new grille, and simplified bumper intakes that give it a sleeker, more modern appearance.

The Techno, Iconic, and Esprit Alpine trims are distinguished by the different finishes on the grille. The profile has been carried over from the outgoing Espace, but the rear end features slightly smaller taillights with a more modern lightning signature.

The redesign has slightly increased the length of the Espace to 4.74 m (186.6 inches). Renault designers have also added the new Baltic Blue Grey shade for the exterior and the exclusive Light Sand Grey option for the interior.

Interior Comfort & Technology

Inside, the highlights of the facelifted Espace are the ergonomic front seats and the improved soundproofing. The SUV is also the first Renault model to gain a new driver recognition system, activating the user profile with personalized settings (driving position, radio favorites, and infotainment applications).

The optional massive glass roof gains Solarbay opacifying technology, which enables it to switch from transparent to opaque on demand. The digital cockpit remains unchanged, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an optional 9.3-inch head-up display.

Practicality & Powertrain

As with its predecessor, the Espace is available in five- and seven-seater guise with a sliding rear bench and a large boot. The latter has a capacity between 520 and 2,225 lt (18.4-78.5 cubic feet) depending on the configuration.

The 2025 Espace is available with a single powertrain option. The self-charging hybrid setup comprises a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and dual electric motors, producing a combined 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS). According to Renault, the maximum range of the hybrid SUV is 1,100 km (684 miles) between refueling stops. Furthermore, the model can be optionally fitted with the 4Control Advanced four-wheel steering technology.

The updated Espace is produced in Palencia, Spain, and will be launched in several European markets before the summer. Chances are that Renault will also soon unveil the facelifted version of the Renault Austral, benefiting from the same upgrades.
