- Spy photographers have caught Corvette C8 prototypes with an updated interior.
- The model eschews the controversial ‘wall of buttons’ and features a new dashboard.
- A group of Zora prototypes were also spied and they could have more than 1,200 hp.
President Reagan famously called on Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall” and it appears the Corvette C8 team has finally heard the message. That’s clear today as spy photographers have caught the car’s updated interior, which eschews the controversial ‘wall of buttons.’
The divisive divider has been provoking strong reactions ever since we exclusively revealed the C8’s interior in 2019. Some people hated it so much, they refused to believe the ‘wall’ would be seen in the production model.

Fast forward to today and it appears they’ll finally get their wish as prototypes have been spied without the massive divider. While we can’t see the full interior, the car has a revised dashboard that now flows around the infotainment system. The wall of buttons can’t be seen and this suggests the physical climate and seat controls will be axed. This should be relatively easy as the infotainment system effectively makes them redundant.
Speaking of the infotainment system, it appears to be about the same size as its predecessor. If that’s the case, it would be disappointing as the current model has an 8-inch display, which feels a tad too small.

Reflections make additional changes hard to decipher, but it looks like some of the switchgear might be updated or repositioned. Aside from that, we can see a familiar steering wheel and digital instrument cluster.
Besides the interior photos, spy photographers snapped two different groups of prototypes. The most notable is a set of Zora coupes that were spied in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Looking suitably aggressive, the models appear to be equipped with a version of the ZR1’s ZTK performance package. It includes front dive planes, a hood-mounted Gurney lip, and a massive rear wing. We can also see a flow-through hood, lightweight wheels, and a familiar rear end.
Chevrolet has been tight-lipped about the car, but it’s expected to combine the ZR1’s twin-turbo 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 with the E-Ray’s front-mounted electric motor. The latter produces 160 hp (119 kW / 162 PS) and 125 lb-ft (169 Nm) of torque, while the former develops a staggering 1,064 hp (793 kW / 1,079 PS) and 828 lb-ft (1,121 Nm) of torque. This suggests the all-wheel drive Zora could have well over 1,200 hp (895 kW / 1,217 PS) and 900 lb-ft (1,219 Nm) of torque.
