- Grenadier models built between July 6, 2023, and April 19, 2024 are being recalled.
- The exterior door buttons could remain depressed because of improper assembly.
- Dealers have been told to replace all exterior door buttons on the off-roader.
Ineos is recalling more than 7,000 vehicles in the United States because of a door latch mechanism that could cause the door to swing open while in motion. That could be dangerous to occupants and other road users and will require impacted models to be returned to dealers.
The British brand says the door button mechanism on 2024 Grenadier models may have been assembled with not enough grease. This means the exterior door buttons may remain in the depressed position, preventing the door from fully latching. If this happens, the door could randomly open.

Impacted Grenadiers were manufactured between July 6, 2023, and April 19, 2024. Owners experiencing the issue may notice door buttons getting stuck and observe a different sound when closing the door because it’s not fully engaging with the striker. A warning will also appear on the dashboard, confirming if a door is not fully closed.

Ineos first became aware of several warranty claims for exterior door buttons that were sticking when doors opened from the outside in October 2023. It quickly started to rework vehicles at its facility and in February 2024, issued a technical service bulletin to dealers, instructing them to re-grease the mechanism. Despite these efforts, Ineos was alerted to two reports of doors opening while driving on US cars that same year, and earlier this month, concluded the issue represents a safety-related defect.
Owners will be notified of the recall from March 31, 2025. Dealers have been instructed to replace all door button assemblies free of charge. These new assemblies have better guidance and kinematic mechanisms and are assembled with a better “grease application process.”
