- Hyundai is teasing something new; likely a concept.
- It seems to focus on communicating emotions via 8-bit emojis.
- A high-performance vehicle is very likely part of the reveal.
Hyundai is teasing us all with a bunch of new images. They could signify just about any automotive-centric product but we bet this is a new concept. Let’s sit back, throw some thumbtacks into the corkboard, string up some twine, and come up with some theories together.
The Korean carmaker dropped an Instagram post featuring a bunch of super-vague graphics today. It focuses on a Ghost-style graphic that appears to come from some sort of 80s-style 8-bit graphic. The photos show the graphic in various styles on several pieces of the object in question.

It seems as though there’s a racing-style steering wheel, a racing harness, and maybe even some sort of an exhaust or wing in the images. The post including the images and video simply says “Feeling like you could use a #boost? Something exciting is fast approaching. Stay tuned to see what’s coming. ⚡🔜” So we get emojis about electrification and something coming soon.
Don’t fret though. We have more than just simple graphics to provide some clues. Hyundai itself, or at least, one of its team members, provided a few details online. Head of Hyundai Design, Simon Loasby, said on LinkedIn, “Can a brand make you smile… ? For this the right character and charisma is required… our European team have done a fantastic job in creating this soon to be revealed Hyundai “with a mood”…”
He later added, “So much credit to our European design team for their enthusiasm and skills… creating a Hyundai with a big mood… more to come of course…” That indicates something related to emotion. No doubt, performance cars often garner emotion in ways that most cars can’t.
We expect Hyundai to properly announce whatever this is between April 3-13 at the Seoul Mobility Show where the automaker is a title sponsor. What do you think all of this points to? Let us know in the comment section below and I’ll be there with you to see if we can figure this out before Hyundai announces it officially. I hope it’s a production version of the RN24. Strip it down, price it like an Ioniq 5 N and I promise I’ll buy one. Are you listening Hyundai?
