• Bertone’s Aston Martin Rapide Jet 2+2 Shooting Brake is a one-off built for an enthusiast.
  • Retaining the original 6.0-liter V12, this car produces 476 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.
  • The unique Aston Martin has 24,169 miles and is heading to auction with no reserve.

Just a year before Bertone went bankrupt (before being revived in 2022), the famous design house took the Aston Martin Rapide and turned it into a Shooting Brake. The one-off was known as the Jet 2+2 and was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. For as cool as it was, just a solitary example was ever built, and now the very same wagon is heading to auction.

The long-roof Rapide was built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Aston Martin’s and Bertone’s relationship. It took inspiration from the two-door Jet 2 concept the two brands created back in 2004, and commissioned by Aston Martin collector Barry Weir. Shortly after the reveal, the British brand gave it the go-ahead for production, planning to get Bertone to build nine more. However, the company went bust before that could happen.

In turning the Rapide into a Shooting Brake, Bertone’s designers extended the roof and made the necessary changes to the rear end while remaining faithful to the original styling. There are new taillights with a light bar and an electrochromatic panoramic glass roof. Additionally, the rear seats can fold down electronically, and the interior is trimmed in a combination of Cream Truffle and Obsidian Black leather.

Just like the standard Rapide, Bertone’s Jet 2+2 Shooting Brake retains the original 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 with 476 hp and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. This allows a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.3 seconds.

Dore & Rees is handling the sale and notes that the one-off has 24,169 miles (38,896 km) under its belt. The listing does not provide any information about the car’s ownership history. However, the car was listed up for sale through a British dealership in 2020 and, at the time, reportedly had 10,000 miles on the clock.

For anyone interested in owning a piece of Aston Martin and Bertone history, the Jet 2+2 is officially up for bids through Dore & Rees. You can check out the listing and throw your hat in the ring over at their site.
