- Engineers are reportedly working on a new Dodge Charger with a Hemi V8 engine.
- The model is rumored to arrive in late 2026, roughly a year and a half after the Hurricane I6.
- Considering the Sixpack variants offer up to 550 hp, the Hemi model could bring the heat.
Earlier this month, an alleged e-mail claimed the Ram 1500 will be offered with 5.7- and 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engines in the near future. . A new TRX variant is also expected, potentially delivering more power than its 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) predecessor.
Since then, we’ve heard rumors that Hemi production will begin in Michigan this summer. Now, a new report is claiming the V8 will find its way into the new Charger.

Mopar Insiders is claiming the performance-brand is “actively working” on bringing the V8 back to the Charger lineup. This will reportedly happen pretty quick as the Hemi could return in late 2026.
There’s no word on performance specs, but the old 5.7-liter V8 produced 372 hp (277 kW / 377 PS) while the 6.4-liter engine cranked out 485 hp (362 kW / 492 PS). That’s not impressive anymore as the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six is expected to have outputs of 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS).

This could suggest Dodge is planning V8 performance flagships, which wouldn’t be surprising considering the company’s history of Hellcats, Hellcat Redeyes, and Demons. Of course, only time will tell what happens.
It’s worth pointing out here that, according to a report from late last year, Dodge engineers told Jalopnik that fitting a Hemi V8 under the hood of the new Charger is easier said than done. Apparently, it would require some serious platform adjustments, including major cradle and firewall modifications. All of this would mean a hefty investment from Stellantis, but as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Speaking of engines, Dodge has reportedly moved up production of the Charger Sixpack. It’s now slated to begin in May with deliveries occurring this summer. However, that’s not much of a difference as Dodge had already announced the gas-powered Charger would be launched by this summer.
