• The driver of this Dodge simply couldn’t handle the 1,025 horses under the hood.
  • After losing control, he sent the Demon 170 straight into the path of two cars.
  • It’s unclear if this video has been shared with police to track down the driver.

Horsepower has never been more accessible to the masses than it is now, and while that’s a win for some enthusiasts, there are still plenty of people out there who simply do not have the skills to drive a car that could launch them into the next zip code at the press of the gas pedal.

Evidently, the driver of this Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 falls into that category, and they might want to consider a crash course in driving (pun intended), or at the very least, stick to something less temperamental, like a front-wheel-drive hatch.

This short clip was originally shared on Instagram back in November but only recently came across our desks. It shows the driver of a black Demon 170 doing a massive burnout in what appears to be Texas. Given the Demon 170 has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 1,025 hp, we can’t exactly blame the driver for wanting to light up the rear tires and leave thick lines of rubber across the tarmac.

However, the driver foolishly decided to do a burnout in the center of a quiet suburban street, close to houses and other parked cars. That is unforgivable.

At first, the driver seems to have the burnout under control, but as the car starts to creep forward, things take a turn for the worse. The wheels are spinning like mad, and the rear of the car kicks out to the right. An experienced driver might’ve been able to lift off the throttle in time to regain control, but not this one. Instead, they end up careening into a parked sedan and pickup truck.

As the entire scene was quickly enveloped in tire smoke, it’s hard to determine just how much damage has been done, but both cars will almost certainly require some significant bodywork repairs. The Demon 170’s front end has likely been badly damaged, too.

What’s particularly infuriating about the whole incident is that, shortly after impact, the driver of the Demon 170 reverses away and speeds back down the street, seemingly running from the scene. In the background, you can spot a pair of other Challengers parked nearby, though it’s unclear whether all three belong to the same household or if they specifically chose this street to hold their impromptu burnout session.

Whatever the case may be, we’re hopeful that someone has managed to track them down and report the crash to local police.
