Officers in Florida were searching for a suspect, and when they finally tracked him down, things escalated fast. What started as a routine pursuit quickly turned into a high-stakes chase, ending only when police executed a high-speed PIT maneuver to stop the fleeing vehicle. Dashcam footage from multiple patrol cars gives us a close-up look at exactly how they pulled it off.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Florida Highway Patrol, deployed its Burglary Apprehension Team to locate a suspect driving a Mercedes SUV. As officers moved in for a traffic stop, it became immediately clear that the driver had no intention of complying.

Video from two different police cars shows the moment officers make contact. The Mercedes tries to drive away, but one officer uses the PIT maneuver to slow their travel. This doesn’t disable the car though and it quickly drives in the opposite direction. It doesn’t, however, manage to get much of a gap on the pursuers.
As authorities catch back up, one officer calls out that the suspects have thrown a gun out of the window. Moments later, that same officer moves in for a high-speed PIT maneuver while navigating through traffic alongside the fleeing vehicle. Video footage from another patrol car, positioned directly behind the lead officer, captures the moment of impact. Over the radio, other officers remind the lead car to proceed with caution, but the PIT is executed without major incident.
Notably, the Mercedes does roll over and had the PIT happened even two seconds later, the police car or the SUV could’ve hit a bystander seen just ahead of the rollover in the video. Nevertheless, officers managed to arrest their suspect along with three other people, according to NBC 6.
The primary suspect is Dorshawn Tate Jr., a 20-year-old who had reportedly finished a prison sentence in December of 2024. That sentence stemmed from a home invasion conviction in 2023. Now, he’s back in jail and facing charges including aggravated fleeing with injury or damage.
