- Nissan’s $300 Z Knife is handmade by master knife maker Satoshi Kiryu in Japan.

- Only 240 limited-edition knives are being produced, each with a unique number.
Nissan may be in dire financial straits trying to find a partner, yet it somehow saw fit to create the special Z Nismo Precision sushi knife. For whatever reason, it doesn’t just want you to buy one of its cars, but use a Z-branded knife in your kitchen as well.
The special knife is handmade by Japanese knife specialist Satoshi Kiryu in Niigata Prefecture. Just 240 examples will be manufactured, paying homage to the 240Z, each priced at a rather pricey $300.23. Nissan says Kiryu has long been a fan of the Z models and the side view of the Z inspired the design of the knife. Nissan Design America also worked with sushi chef Hiroyuki Terada on the project.

Each knife from Nissan is individually marked with a blade number in red. Each knife also features the signature of Chef Hiro and Kiryu’s insignia and comes in a special box with the different Z logos used over the car’s six generations. The double-beveled blade is cut, ground, and polished by hand before being perfectly sharpened.
“A chef is only as good as their knife,” Terada said. “A handcrafted kiritsuke-style knife like this one allows us to elevate our craft to the highest level possible. Whether you’re a professional chef or a passionate home cook, you’ll immediately feel the quality in your hand.”
Of course, it’s debatable whether those who buy the knife will use it for cutting sushi, rather than as a display piece. However, if you fancy owning a Nissan Z product, this could be a cool, if somewhat unusual, addition to your collection.
