• Rezvani has just launched a new tactical backpack that transforms into a bulletproof vest.
  • It costs $495 before tax and shipping and its design is very restrained compared to its cars.

It seems that sometimes, personal security can take on a whole new level of importance—like, literally. Rezvani, known mainly for its rebodied armored vehicles, claims that one of their customers had a rather unsettling experience that led to the creation of this new product called the the Bullet-Resistant Backpack.

According to them, the self-explanatory product was inspired by a customer who—after being attacked—decided one armored vehicle wasn’t enough. So, naturally, they asked Rezvani to create something that could turn their daily bag into an impenetrable shield. Who doesn’t need that?

Let’s talk numbers. The backpack itself is priced at $495, before shipping, which is around $9.95 to most places in the USA, plus taxes. Shipping abroad adds another $45, so after tax, this pack could be around $600 depending on where you live. Frankly, in the world of bulletproof products, that price isn’t all that crazy. That said, the design is actually pretty snazzy.

Unlike Rezvani’s car creations, the backpack is quite subtle. Nothing about it makes it obvious that it’s built to help repel gunfire. The back features the Rezvani logo, a Velcro patch, and, strangely, a grommet for a cord as if it’s 2005 and the iPhone has a headphone jack again. It also has molle straps and a space for a water bottle on one side. The party feature, though, comes from the upper part.

Trick Bag

That’s because you can unzip the top of the pack and then pull two straps velcroed to the shoulder straps that reveal a bullet-resistant plate that folds forward and over your head. Straps then allow you to secure the plate while a second plate in the rear of the pack provides additional protection from the back. In stock form, it provides NIJ Level 3A protection.

According to Premier Body Armor, that’s perhaps the most popular level because it offers “a good balance of protection and comfort.” Rezvani says buyers can swap the plates in the pack out for different levels of protection should they so desire. While this may not be uncommon for a bulletproof vest, the Rezvani creation is unique in that it can convert from a backpack to a bullet-resistant vest as quickly as it does.
