• Venuum cut the roof off the G-Class to build an open-top off-roader.
  • Nearly every exterior panel was swapped, leaving only the door skins.
  • Production stays limited, and Venuum has not named a price yet.

Mercedes-Benz is busy developing an all-new G-Class Cabriolet, but a Middle Eastern tuner just got there first. Say hello to the limited-edition Mastodon V4 from Venuum.

While we’ve seen plenty of unhinged G-Class builds in recent years, including drop-top models from Mansory, they usually retain some of the model’s most recognizable features, such as the round headlights. That hasn’t happened here as Venuum looks to have replaced every single exterior part, except for the door skins, in building its ultimate drop-top off-roader.

The front of the kit is particularly dramatic. It features an all-new bumper with plenty of exposed forged carbon fiber, at odds with the square design made famous by the G-Class. There’s also a different grille, square headlights, and a custom hood.

There’s nothing ordinary about the sides of this Mercedes G-Class either. A dramatic set of wheels has been added, as have forged carbon fiber fender flares and side skirts. In these images, the off-roader’s wheelbase appears shorter than that of a standard one, although it’s hard to say whether this is an optical illusion, given that it retains four doors.

Goodbye Roof

Most of the action is obviously happening at the rear, where the roof has been cut off. Presumably, the black fabric at the rear can extend up and over the rear seats to protect them from the elements, although no photos have been provided showing the top up.

Changes have also been made to the cabin. The front and rear seats are now trimmed in a combination of yellow and black leather, while a unique center console has been added between the two rear seats, featuring – what else? – forged carbon fiber.

Venuum hasn’t said how many examples of the Mastodon V4 it plans to build, other than confirming it will be a “limited-edition.”
