President Donald Trump revealed that the White House has ordered a fleet of 250 Cadillac Escalades to update government security motorcades. The order marks one of the larger single government purchases of the big Cadillac in recent memory.
Trump made the announcement during yesterday’s visit to GM’s Milford Proving Ground in Michigan. Speaking to a crowd of General Motors employees, suppliers, and officials, he praised the automaker for its vehicles and credited his own administration with bringing thousands of jobs back to America through its tariff policies.

“Thank you to the auto workers, the technicians, the mechanics, the welders, the engineers at General Motors,” Trump said. “There’s no finer group of people. It was workers like you who built this country, and now it’s the men and women like you who are making it bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before.”
The President said his father, Fred Trump, loved buying a brand new Cadillac every two years. He then congratulated GM’s staff and mentioned checking out some of their vehicles, including the Chevy Silverado, the GMC Sierra, and “the world famous Hummer,” asking GM CEO Mary Barra to send him “a couple.”
However, it seems that the administration already got more than a couple of vehicles from GM, as Trump revealed the big order of their flagship full-size SUV. In his words:
“The one and only Escalade. You know we ordered, I think, 250 Escalades, right? We ordered 250 Escalades…. We look sharp in those Escalades. Our guys are very spoiled. They’re very spoiled. They like the Escalade. So do I. They were great to deal with General Motors…”
Trump’s announcement likely serves as official confirmation of a procurement program first reported in March 2025, when the Department of Homeland Security awarded General Motors a $14.8 million contract (with potential costs rising to $40.8 million through 2029) to develop the next-generation presidential limousine known as The Beast and supply new support vehicles.
The standard Escalade starts at $91,100, but the government fleet will look very different. The motorcade SUVs are expected to ride on a heavy-duty chassis with extensive armor, ballistic glass, and eight-lug axles. In other words, they’ll be updated versions of the Chevrolet Suburban the Secret Service has long used, only with Cadillac styling.
The First Presidential Visit To GM’s Proving Grounds
Trump’s speech was part of the first visit by a sitting US president to GM’s historic Milford facility. Hosted by GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra and GM President Mark Reuss, the event included track demonstrations on the Black Lake test pad with “energizing music playing over the loudspeaker.”

According to GM, Trump watched head-to-head drag races involving performance vehicles like the Corvette ZR1X and the GMC Hummer EV. He also inspected several vehicles, among them the Heavy-Duty Tactical Truck Hybrid and Infantry Squad Vehicle from GM Defense, and sat in a Cadillac Celestiq.
Finally, the President signed the hood of a 2026 Stars & Steel Collection Chevrolet Corvette Stingray created to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States.
