It’s unlikely that an American performance car like the Dodge Viper will ever be built again. Fortunately, thanks to Lego, you can remember this great period of motoring with an 805-piece model of the successful Viper GTS-R race car, and it even includes a somewhat functional V10 engine.
The racing version of the Dodge Viper competed for almost a decade in Europe and the US, winning multiple championships and overall victories at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, Rolex 24 at Daytona, and Spa 24 Hours. It’s an American racing icon, so it makes sense why Lego has decided to launch a Technic model of it for anyone over the age of 10 to enjoy.

The Viper GTS-R model is finished in white with bright blue racing stripes, a special livery that kit buyers can redeem in Forza Horizon 6. No doubt the highlight of the mini-Viper’s front end is the clamshell-style opening hood, exposing a tiny replica of the Dodge’s big-capacity V10. You see those tiny plastic pistons? They can actually move, which isn’t something we often see with Lego models.
Beyond its moving pistons, the Viper GTS-R includes functional front wheels that can turn. Just like the real-life racer, the rear end is dominated by a towering wing and diffuser, both of which have been replicated surprisingly well in Lego form.
Like any detailed Lego Technic model, you’ll need to exercise a lot of patience to assemble this one. The instruction manual spans more than 170 pages, but building this is definitely a better way to occupy some free time than endlessly scrolling through social media. The kit’s quite affordable, too, available directly from Lego for $64.99.
