By now, you probably already know what a Porsche 911 GTS is, but it seems like a good time to take another look at Stuttgart’s most potent 911 this side of a GT3.
In its latest and rather rough video, Auto Express gives us a tour round a tastefully specced GTS. Helped by a 430hp 3.8-litre flat six, the 911 GTS is the model you want if a GT3 is more aggressive than wanted and a Carrera S not focused enough. Finished in a beautiful blue shade and equipped with a nice duck-tail spoiler, this GTS reminds us why 911s are so popular.
But it could also be one of the last naturally aspirated ‘normal’ 911 you’ll ever see; Porsche is reportedly turbocharging the 911 line-up as part of the upcoming facelift, apart from the GT3 and GT3 RS. The new models are expected to be more fuel-efficient, friendlier to the environment and faster than ever before but some already fear that the much-loved character of the iconic flat-six will be gone forever.
The possibility of the Porsche 991 GTS becoming one the future’s most desired second-hand 911s is not just big, it’s almost certain. Given the astronomical prices that the 997 GT3 RS commands on the used market as the last of the hairy-chested manual Porsches, the GTS is just destined to follow the same fate as the last N/A 911.
